The winners of «The Time of the Guitar» Composer Competition have been announced in Moscow

The winners of «The Time of the Guitar»  competition-festival, the most prestigious guitar composer competition in Russia, have been determined in Moscow, which has launched the preparation of the eponymous competition-the festival of classical guitar performers, which will be held in November 2026. The highest award of the competition — First Prize — was awarded to the composition "Suite for Solo Guitar" by Moscow composer Sergei Vasiliev.

The Moscow International
Association of Guitar Art (MIAGA)

was founded in July 2018 on the initiative of leading Russian guitar players, laureates of international competitions: Professor, Head of the Classical Guitar Department of the Maimonide’s Academy Yevgeny Finkelstein, Gnessin’s Academy Professor Dmitry Illarionov, laureate of the Government of Moscow, guitar player and composer Dmitry Borodaev, Roman Zorkin, Victoria Naletova, conductor Arman Tigranyan (USA), composer and conductor Anton Lubchenko (St. Petersburg), leading teachers of Moscow art schools, mentors of national and international contests winners Tatyana Levina, Ilya Podolsky, Alexander Filchenkov.

Association Goals

  • development of classical guitar art in Russia
  • preserving the traditions of the classical European guitar school, numbering half a millennium
  • consolidation of the academic status of classical guitar in Russia
  • creation of a strong professional guitar community in the Russian Federation and abroad

Association objectives

  • creating a unified informational and creative platform for teachers, novice guitarists, concert musicians;
  • assisting in concert practice for young guitar players;
  • material support for gifted children;
  • creating a unified music guitar library;
  • expansion of the concert guitar repertoire;
  • raising the quality level of guitar education in Russia;
  • conducting master classes, conferences, creative shows;
  • organization of contests and festivals;
  • developing chamber ensemble guitar performance
